About the event

Join us when Michael Burns will be delving into the history of the Second World War in the town of Comber, Co. Down.


Discover how Rationing, the Belfast Blitz, Evacuation, Prisoners of War and Victory celebrations affected the local people of Comber. Learn the stories of the Comber men who lost their lives in the conflict and explore the Second World War built heritage still present in Comber over 80 years ago!


Visit the grave of John Miller Andrews, wartime Prime minister of Northern Ireland in Comber Non-Subscribing church and learn why Sir Winston Churchill left a cabinet meeting shouting "Who, what or where is Comber!?"


Explore the local memories of American soldiers stationed in Comber, including fights with locals over girlfriends and scams involving the famous Old Comber Whiskey- as well as quite a few GI Brides from the town!
